At one point in a very emotional scene, he gives a rather bland "HE WAS THERE FRIEND"! shout that was horrible off the entended purpose. No tears nothing. Very dry. Also while the effects are good we hardly see any display of actual hardcore magic. We just see cheap theatrics like self racking chairs, and transparent beams.
The movie seems way too fast paces for my taste aswell.Once minute one thing is going on the next something else totally opposite occurs. Overall this movie will be a big dissapointment to book fans who adore the 3rd book, but its entertaining to watch nonetheless.
P.S: i give a half extra simply because the dementors were portayed amazingly. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Unlike the first two faithful, but soulless, movie adaptations of the phenomenally successful Harry Potter books, Cuaron's "Azkaban" has its own vision. It captures the strange and often intimidating beauty of Rowling's magically familiar wizarding world. The wizarding students are finally more than lifeless robots propelling Rowling's plot. We soar with them (Harry's hippogriff ride); we grieve with them (the frustrating "happy" ending). In addition to infusing the novel with visual flair and depth of style, Cuaron continued the series of brilliant casting choices (Gary Oldman for Sirius Black and David Thewlis for Remus Lupin, as well as even-better-than-Harris Michael Gambon as Dumbledore). The details aren't as accurate to the novels as Columbus's, but the effect is much more loyal. I've only one complaint: the marauder's map was never explained. But it's a classic. And deservedly so. I loved the 1st 2 movies. Yet the 3rd was a disapointment. It did leave so many key factors out. I have heard that the guys playing Black and Lupin had never read the books. All the actors seemed to have an uncomfortable feel to them in this movie. When they did such a great job in the other movies.
I have also heard that this was a new director(that did not read the book). The next movie is suposed to have a different director also. Lets be optimistic to a good come back! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I only watched about the first 25 minutes of it, then i sent it back. They really need to find a new actor for harry pot-head, he's what, like, 42 now? This movie is also very dark. And I don't mean like, evil dark, I mean, like, I can't see the movie half the time it's so dark. You know, like they had no lights on when they filmed it. DON"T RENT THIS!
