Read More Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom are two of my favorite actors, and I could not pass up a chance to see them in action in the same movie! Both men were exceptional in this film; however, I really thought this movie was going to have a wee bit more action in it than it did. With as clever as the movie makes Ned Kelly (played by Heath Ledger) out to be throughout the entire movie, it really leaves you wondering in the end where all those smarts went to, and why no one he wanted to save was saved. Pride kicked in instead. Anyhow, the movie was ok, but a little on the boring side. I thought it was one of those movies that starts out slow, and then give you one big, great finish, but no...it was pretty disappointing. The Young Guns shoot outs were much more entertaining. Read More Top notch actors were my draw to this movie along with the chance to see a true story. I admired Ned for how he was the head of his family and kept all together while making high quality, conscientious decisions. The movie portrayed his stubborn, die-trying attitude well. The scenery is beautifully shot.
Unfortunately, the story made for some pretty boring cinematic events. There were a couple scenes where they talk about old times that really dragged.
(Do not read this if you don't want to ruin the movie--------------------------------------I guess the real life Ned must have had a bad day during the plans for his final battle because the plan as portrayed in the movie left me wondering what he was thinking. But it let me down. It was like watching Robin Hood in Australia, but without the huge action and fast beat story. Story was so slow and I just wanted the movie to be over. I don't recommend this movie to anyone. Plus, none of the actors I thought passed off as Irish Immigrants, I think they got the wrong cast to play Irish Men.
