The Alamo (2004)
Member Rating:
Re-teaming Dennis Quaid with John Lee Hancock, the director of 2002's The Rookie, The Alamo retells the story of the historic 1836 battle in the Texan War of Independence. Facing 4,000 Mexican troops, 186 Texan soldiers and volunteers -- including William Travis (Patrick Wilson), Davy Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton), and Jim Bowie (Jason Patric) -- retreat within the walls of the Alamo, a Franciscan mission that was converted into a military fort. Once inside, the men prepare themselves for what will be a bloody battle to the death, as General Sam Houston (Quaid) leads the charge from the outside. Emilio Echevarria and Jordi Molla co-star. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

Remember The Alamo! We all remember this cry to Freedom. This movie is slow the action is great with very good special effects. A look back into history.

I didn't watch this movie. The copy sent wasn't wide screen. I can't believe full screen is still being stocked.

Billy Bob, Dennis Quaid and Jason Patric all make this movie worth watching, especially if you like non-typical westerns. The violin solo by Billy Bob was awesome; had to re-wind it several times to hear it again and again... it gave us goose-bumps.

Watched it twice in the same day...... different perspective to look at this historial event.... it is good to look at things from another angle than the norm sometimes.

Not one of the better history movies that I've seen. There was a lot of dialog that made this move longer than it needed to be. Unless all the words were historical and I doubt they were, they didn't need to be there. Based on the movies entertainment value I would not recomend it. On historical value alone, it has some merit. But a book on the Alamo would be better.

WOW this movie was bad! I expect way more from a movie starring these three actors. Don't bother unless you need some sleep.

I didn't think it was possible, but here's a movie that actually makes Moulin Rouge look good. They should shoot this film over again keeping Billy Bob playing Davy Crockett but putting a little Slingblade into it, John Ritter as Sam Houston and Dwight Yoakem as Jim Bowie. Then it might be entertaining.
