For a good look at American culture 50 years ago, rent this movie. Mildly entertaining for my wife and me (early 30s), but probably much more entertaining for older generations. Good performances, lots of stars and a nice guest appearance by Tori Amos, but the ending pretty much sucked.

Loved Julia in this - by far my favorite Julia Roberts performance and a movie I own. Outstanding performances by all in this star-studded cast. About a forward thinking woman in the early 1950s who is a Art History Professor, and tries to aspire the young woman in her class to reach beyond the 1950s model for woman of the "stay at home" wife and mother.

I was a little disappointed. It was a little on the slow (dead) side - so much so that I had to pause a few times to take a few breaks. The characters could have been developed more - more in depth about the teacher (whom I've already forgotten the name). The story didn't flow that well despite the attempts of some pretty great actresses.
