My 12-year old said there are things that are ... Read More I loved this movie!! It was safe to watch with my 12-year old and my 5-year old, which is tough to find anymore. No one was bored throughout. My 12-year old said there are things that are different than the book. I never read it. But she still loved the movie. She watched it at least 2Xs, which is rare for her. It's funny and sweet without gratuitious violence or sexual innuendo that is so common anymore in even kid's movies.
This is a great kid's movie. And I think it's what all kid's movies should be--entertaining and fun for everyone in the family. This will not disappoint. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More I really enjoyed the book that this movie shouldn't be able to claim to be adapted from. There are only a few similarities like the gift/curse of obedianece and some of the characters. I was so excited because there was potential for a great movie here. The best part about the book was Ella managed to get herself out of her own scrapes, but in this movie Char seems to be rescuing her all the time. This movie took some points from the book but seemed to head off in a different direction closer to just about every other Cinderella story out there. I managed to give it two stars just because even with the cheesy acting and effects it was an okay movie. I suggest that you read the book first though because it is a hundred times better. Read More I like to take a break from the action and mystery genre once in a while and watch something fanciful. This fairly tale is patterned after Cinderella but has some different characters thrown in like elves, orgres and giants.
