Read More This is one of those movies that many people (including myself) will be tempted to turn off early because it seems pointless. You get the feeling you don't get it. Well keep watching. The movie builds an understanding that is almost subliminal. But you will get it through feelings, not logical in-your-face understanding like an action movie. It does it subtly with impressions. You began to sense the deeper love that has evolved between the characters even though they... Oops I almost revealed part of the plot. Well actually its misleading to say there is a plot. There really isn't one - its about character development and the interplay between the characters. Watch it until the end, then see if you can erase it from your mind as worthless. I bet you cannot. It makes me think about my own past. We can never forget about our past, its a part of what makes us who we are. Even though we've all had broken relationships, they've all had some really great moments. I would never want to throw away all my old memories, they're mine. The people who have come in and out of my life are all important b/c they helped determine where I am today, how and why would I want to forget about them? Very different and another Kaufman hit (like Adaptation). This movie does actually have something to say and it does take some thought on the viewers part. The extras are worth watching even more so. Somewhat existential in nature. Definitely worth it if you are willing to try something a little different. Great acting and fabulous screenplay. Read More Kaufman has outdone himself. This movie is not for the people who would list "I Robot" as a thinking person's movie (honestly, it has some reviews like that.) This is an extremely intelligent movie with complex characters and situations, all mixed in with a little fantasy and timeline screwiness. I am not a coffee shop hermit as another reviewer describes any fan of this movie; I like drinking beer and watching football, and this movie is my new favorite movie. All this presented in a disjointed ... Read More Basically a drama about two mismatched lovers, but in the context of a tweaky plot to erase one's memories using a home-made, selective brain-damaging device. All this presented in a disjointed manner reminiscent of Memento. I found it very original and facinating. Recommended.
