However, inspite of that, the movie on it's own merit is very enjoyable -- even for young teenage boys. It is a good family movie. I could & do watch this over & over. If you are only used to seeing Billy Connelly doing comedy, this is a nice break. Enjoy this movie. This movie is great fo fans of sci-fi and time travel movies. It is both a weakness and an aquired taste. This one was a mixed bag, good acting, a so-so script and really cheesie special effects (ok, everybody, shake, make faces, and act like traveling through time is very painful). The special effects in the TOS Star Trek were ok for the era, but in 2003? The extras were a waste, just Donner blowing his own horn, being vulgar, making jokes at the expense of the actors. It's all over the place. Nice blow ups. Good color. Nice idea even. BUT, please...put it all in order, at least give us a chance to enjoy it. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

This movie had a couple people that turned me off. The main girl, Kate, and the blonde kid, Chris, were not good actors. Kate tried too hard and Chris was just not a believable character. Another thing that pissed me off was they changed a lot of the main events that happened in the book. I know they probably had to do that to make it fit into a 2 hour movie.
