Read More Powerful, well directed, fantastic performances. Really succeeds in demonstrating that, however incandescent and scathing his speeches could seem, Malcom X was fundamentally a human. Read More 3 hrs. and 20 min. long but it didn't seem that way - after a couple slow parts at the beginning, the movie really moved along and kept my attention. Not having a great deal of knowledge about Malcolm X prior to seeing the film, I came away with a good understanding of his transformations and philosophical views. Read More It would be foolish to regard Hollywood productions as a source of fact for true characters and events, but they are great for instigating inquisitiveness, research, and general debate. Denzel Washington offers an uncanny likeness and believable performance as Malcolm X. The reference to the Rev. Martin Luther King is worthy of note. I am disgusted to be 23 years old and only just now finding out how profound Malcolm X was. Our education system is doing a complete disservice to kids around the country by not teaching about the life of Malcolm X. This movie is long and does start off slow, but you will be very satisfied if you spend the time to watch it.
