Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal attempt to recapture the screwball spark of What's Up, Doc? in the labored farce The Main Event. Streisand plays Hillary Kramer, a bankrupt perfume executive who discovers that one of her tax write-offs from more prosperous times was the ownership of prizefighter Kid Natural (Ryan O' Neal). Kid Natural is now a driving instructor who wants nothing to do with boxing, but Hillary is determined to resurrect the Kid's less-than-spectacular boxing career. Liked "The Dream Team" better--know the director, usually much more laughs, human dramas that work. Husband Chaz worked with the Director many years ago in NYC!

Barbra Streisand and Ryan O'Neal have great chemistry in the movie, reminiscent of What's Up, Doc? Ryan O'Neal is funny and incredibly sexy in it. They both have great comedic timing.

Just like with most Barbra Streisand movies I've watched:The Mirror has 2 faces,The owl and the pussycat,this film,The Main Event is just as witty and funny.I was inspired by the sports theme of the movie that the following day I bought that type of shorts she wore.She is so inspiring and sexy.
