Read More Ever thought about going on a reality show and trying to win "big money"? What if you had to live in isolation for 6 months with 4 strangers in an undisclosed location and have your every move monitored by web cams streaming onto the internet? Still interested? You may find yourself reconsidering after seeing this film. This creepy little Canadian horror movie utilizes an unknown cast and a house-in-the-middle-of-nowhere setting to great effect. The plot kept me interested throughout due in part to the plights of the characters as well as the twists thrown in. You feel a real sense of dread as the film progresses. Actor Kris Lemche (he played Sam the drug dealer in the first "Ginger Snaps") steals the movie as wise cracking slacker Rex. Check out the extras including deleted scenes, "cast auditions" (where you get to see how the characters were picked to be on the reality show), and a making-of-doc, all of which enhance the film itself. From start to finish, the movie keeps a very effective creepy atmosphere that gave me the chills. The whole time I was watching this movie, I was looking over my shoulder cause I couldn't shake the feeling like I was being watched myself. And then towards the end of the movie, it turned from creepy to disturbing. Overall, this is a very underrated, creepy little movie that's definitely worth a rent. Read More I noticed a lot of the other reviews refer to the first twenty minutes being a little slow. I acutally don't mind that aspect of the film; a lot of great films such as Psycho, Sixth Sense, and the obvious predecessor here, Blair Witch have all benefitted from slow build-ups making the suspense in the end and the twists well worth the wait and better because of the build-up. I found this film to be a lot more clever than all of the other "BW" clones, and actually had some worthwhile creepy moments. However, I can give this more than 3 stars because the one problem it does have is that the acting is atrocious. Somehow it doesn't kill the film but it comes very close at times. Wished I had turned off the movie a lot earlier. I'll give it 2 stars only because it had some okay acting and was a very clever idea, just wish they had donw something better with it. If I had to choose a comparison for My Little Eye, it guess it would be Blair Witch Project meets The House on Haunted Hill. 90% of this movie is viewed through webcams, which plays up the creepiness of voyeurism. But I would have had to consider this movie in the suspense genre rather than horror if it wasn't for the last half hour. The movie itself had a great concept, albeit somewhat unoriginal (ie. Halloween: Resurrection), but I felt like the characters never developed and to many scary moments dissipated and fell on boring to really be enjoyable. The conclusion leaves much to be desired and basically just falls apart.
There are some scarce moments of tension and a few modern-day horror nude scenes, but other than that.. I'd stick with a Vincent Price classic any day. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Most folks that I know that don't like the movie didn't see it all the way through. Because of the early show drag, they've turned it off in the first twenty minutes. Past the first twenty minutes, it gets more interesting and has enough twists to make it worth watching through to the end.
