Her determination was very inspiring. And I'm not a big fan of Jerry Bruckheimer, his stuff is usually so over-the-top or loaded with crashes and explosions. I wouldn't have guessed that this was his film.

I enjoyed the glimpse of Irish society and government.
The photography, editing, and sound/music were also very good.

Read More This story about a journalist who put her life on the line for a story about the drug world was interesting, but very violent and full of reprehensible characters. It is clear that her passion compelled her to pursue these people, but you wonder why she didn't just stop when it became obvious that it wasn't going to end well. Although produced wonderfully, and Cate does a marvelous job, it was very hard to watch. And in the end, only when something horrendous happened did reform actually take place. Which, is extremely frustrating, albeit typical, but not something I really cared to watch. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

However, I don't approve every action taken by Veronica Guerin. Besides, most of the journalists/paparazzi now days would do just about any despicable thing to get a bonus. Incredible what they packed into this 90+ minute film. The pace really moves along and you may wish there was more. The scene with her driving away after that wicked altercation with the 'bad guy' is a complete emotional roller coaster and you feel as if you were there. This is not a tear-jerker but nevertheless have your tissues handy. We may not get to know her as deeply as possible but we get to know that Veronica Guerin is someone we would have wanted on our side and who we would proudly stand with. true to life in all its apects this film really depicts the lowest elements of Ireland in the drug world at
the time..I must say in my recent travels all over Ireland, I never even got a whiff of such goings on.
A tribute to the newspeople who put their life on the line to show these people for what they really are!
