This movie is an incredible work of art in filmaking. They have captured the soul of Mexico and the air of the times. The incorporation of Frida's paintings is unique and the music is perfect and so many other details. I understand that some people may not like the lifestyles portrayed, but anyone would be mesmerized by the quality of this beautiful film.

Salma Hayek possesses an almost alien beauty and is simply magnificent as the strong-willed Frida Kahlo. Alfred Molina is outstanding as the womanizing Diego Rivera. Everything about this film is first-rate, including the direction and the haunting, original score. To top it off, the occasional scene featuring special effects animation adds a lyrical touch of mysticism, à la another film shot in Mexico, "Like Water for Chocolate". Frida Kahlo's life, so sad and yet so full, is a life well worth the telling, and here it is indeed told very well.

Kahlo had such an amazing life and this film portrayed it gloriously. Totally interesting, compelling, heartfelt - I can't say enough good things about this film. One of my favorites. Ever!

I enjoyed this movie so much I had to go online and check out all of her paintings. It showed one of her paintings worth 5 million. Wow, and to think she burned some of them because she did not like them. How anyone could find this boring is beyond me. I guess if you do not like watching a story of someone's life, especially one who went through so much, to be able to portray the pain she went through in her life in paintings, should rent something else.

I watched this movie in an art class while studying for my nursing degree. I am so glad I did! In the ht. her youth was involved in a tragic accident & impaled..lets say through her reproductive organs & could never bear children & was told she'd never walk again. Walk she did!! No children however; & through her art she expressed her heartbreak, culture & political views. HER ARTWORK & LIFE MAY SEEM WEIRD OR ECCENTRIC. BUT IF YOU CAN APPRECIATE VIEWS ON culture, war & politics, much like Picasso); then you will love this movie. Lets just say rebels such as Frida, inspire & show us that its okay to be human be influenced by culture & have an opinion & feelings & blatantly express them; as we pave our own road in this life & in the end answer only to God, & well everyone else can just go to.. 2 THUMBS UP 4 ORIGINALITY, ARTISTRY & AUTHENTICITY OF FRIDA'S LIFE!!

I enjoyed the movie. I had heard of Frida but didn't really know how she came about. It shows human ambition, and guts to work for what you want. Still holding themselves a true human who feels.
