Read More Most of this documentary focuses on Jerry himself who, bravely, wiped his old act and started from scratch. He had 2 jokes written on a napkin and from that point, he slowly and sometimes painfully works back up to a solid hour of material. You see his insecurities backstage and get to contrast them with his improvisational skills and projected confidence onstage. Orny, on the other hand, is insecure in front of the crowd and too secure off-stage. There are several cameos by famous and infamous comedians and their take on the job is just the same as Jerry's: the more famous you are, the harder the audience judges you.
A neat part of the film is seeing Jerry interact with these other comedians, and also seeing him with his wife and later, with their baby. Be sure to watch the deleted scenes, and also go back and watch with the commentary on.
I recommend this without hesitation. It's a mix of stand up and behind the scenes "jam" that are funny and insightful. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This is a great documentary if you like any of the following: comedy, Jerry Seinfeld, and behind-the-scenes footage of both. Seinfeld works to create an entirely new act from scratch following his big HBO special on Broadway when he retired ALL of his old material. It's a interesting and revealing look at the behind-the-stage world of stand-up comics their trials, joys, stresses, and successes. It also follows a portion of a career of an upcoming comic named Orny, who is extremely insecure but successful and passionate about what he does. It's a good rent. What I found eerie about the whole experience was how unhappy Jerry seems. In the midst of all his success, it seems like he's achieved everything he's every dreamed. In the end, it's all a little sad. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This is a documentary, not straight stand-up, of Jerry crafting a new stand-up set. (how can people rate a film low only because they didn't understand that this was a documentary-says so right in the description?!?) Anyway, lots of laughs and insight to the real Jerry's personality. Bonus features are excellent. Has great replay value-especially with the comments on. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Orny comes off as an a** but he's funny and has talent. I guess it's not bragging if you back it up. The music is superb (and I don't like jazz). The sound quality was poor. Many of the conversations were difficult to follow because of background noise. Jerry travels by BMW and private jet. He couldn't spring for a wireless mic? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More I was expecting a comedy routine or concert-type setting, but its more like a documentary of the business. It was boring and I could only watch a few minutes and just gave up. I thought that with Jerry Seinfeld I would get a few good laughs, but instead all I got was a good reason to just take a nap. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
