Life during wartime again? Not your average WWII movie. A "must see". Polanski surprised me with this one. A remarkable story about the atrocitities of war, the corruption of absolute power, along with the overcoming of these adversities. "Play that Hunky music white boy!" Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Nice sound track. Main actor's playing was not convincing. Some credibility issues (for example his flawless performance for the Nazi officer; this from a man whose frozen, abused fingers had not touched a keyboard in years, when any musician knows you feel it after missing just one day of practice!). But reasonable overall.

It may be well done, perhaps accurate, but I found the Nazi's treatment of the Jews in this film horrific to watch. I realize that's the point, but I don't want to see it. I could only get through the first hour. For me, the violence so overshadowed the plot I don't care to watch the rest to see what happens to the pianist.
