This was a beautiful film. From not only the cinematography, but also the characters and the story. This was a rarity. It is not often that you find a film of this caliber in today’s modern cinema. If you assume that you know this film prior to finishing it, then you will be the laughing stock of the town. I have seen several films in my lifetime, and I can honestly say that I never saw this story unfolding. I was one of those that expected the beginning to be the entire story … boy, was I surprised. Tautou carries this film on her bare shoulders. She gives a stunning performance as a woman with a heart full of love for a man that she encounters. Her turn from Amelie proves that she is a very versatile actor. She emotionally pulls you from your seat and glues you to the screen. Add to this the sheer brilliance of the story; with all of its twists and turns, and powerful cast that only accentuates Tautou’s absurdity only helps propel this story from average to amazing.

I am coming to trust Audrey Tautou's choices in movies. This one is a twister, a teaser, a pisser, and a pleaser (no rhyme intended). You go girl!

Be patient with this film. Just when you think you know what will happen - everything changes! Audrey Tatou is wonderful in this one. You may have to watch the movie twice just to absorb it all.

I loved this movie. The twist was great and very nicely done. It reminds us that things aren't always as they seem.

Audrey did a wonderful job in this movie, but I was expecting a cute love story. This is not a cute love story.

You should go with an open mind with this movie. It is funny and in the traditional cute sense of Tatou, but some parts are a little akward. The ending is great too.

This movie is promoted as a black comedy. I love black comedy. This was not one. It was a drama, and it was difficult to watch to the end, because of expectations created by the promotion and the reviews on line. My recommendation is to change the promotion.
