Some of the lines are corny, and some situations the characters find themselves in are far fetched. If you are looking for the latest techno-thriller, this movie may not be for you. On the other hand, the message is still as believable, and some of the movies main points just as true as they were 25 years ago, when the movie was released.
It's a good flick. If you are a fan of Crichton, any of the actors, or movies about how people might want to use tv to control the population, you should find this movie entertaining. I'm glad they chose to _finally_ put it out on DVD, and you can be sure it's one that I will keep in my collection. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

The plot is loosely woven and triumps to make a fair sci-fi movie by standards of 1981 when it was produced. Slow and predictable, the film is very reminscent of the Star Trek genre without the space travel. Various sci-fi apparatus and out-of-this-world gizmos are used to build subtle moments of suspense and mystery. The actors are B rate actors and actresses that fade from memory once the movie is over. Over all, the movie is entertaining but not an unforgettable movie. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I always liked the theme song to this movie (also titled Looker) and have tried over the years to get a copy but it is not available anywhere I could find. (artist Sue Saad and the Next I believe made just one album and this was their best song). So the movie was great from the start because of the theme song. I found the movie to be a little better than when I saw it back in the early 80's, maybe not a blockbuster but the music and nude scenes make it a good movie. Susan Dey must have been in her early 20's and looked great. There are a few nude scenes but no raw sex. I guess you have to like Susan, James Coburn and Albert Finney to appreciate the movie. I recomend it highly. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Boring, tedious; couldn't wait for it to end. It was corny and cheesy, even by 80's standards. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Great snapshot of the 70s and 80s era, with interesting combination of guns, girls, and gadgets that keep the story moving. I've never seen a more passionate kick to the groin than the one given by Albert Finney to a thug with the Looker pistol. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

A Barbie Doll type movie with horrific acting and a terrible script. Michael Chrichton had to have his tongue in his cheek when he made this story up. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
