This was a well acted, well crafted movie about a kid who has virtually no mother, nowhere to live, and is deperately trying to make more of his life. The rap scene at the end left me speechless. You could see he was pouring at his entire soul in the role and it showed throughout this film.

Read More When I first heard about this movie back in 2002 I declined to see it at the theatre or rent it. I thought it would just be Eminem showing what a big shot he was. But when I actually saw some of the movie recently on regular TV, Eminem was doing anything but making himself out to be this
"Mr. Big Shot, Fly-Guy." I decided to rent the movie almost imediately afterwards.
Eminem shows himself in this movie, which I imagine is close to his real life struggle, as a young guy wrestling with his own self esteem after moving back in with his mother, and being a white rapper in a predominantly black neighborhood. He shows in vivid detail how much courage it takes for him to stand up and rap about himself, and those against him, with pride. I thought he and the other actors in the movie did an excellent job! It was beautiful how even though most poeple expected the main character to conquer all and get a huge record deal at the end, that isn't the way the story went. I thought that gave it more credibility than if he were to just get signed to a contract because he won a rap battle. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I guess if someone can portray themselves well, that may be a good thing. The story was kind of too much padding for the main plot. He enters a rap contest that spans 2 weeks. The rest was non-sensical filler. Somewhat entertaining, but the production was great. His final rap was awesome, I have to admit!! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I kept waiting and waiting for it to get interesting and it never does. The first 20 minutes is the entire film and just when it FINALLY is picking up...it ends! Even the hit song isn't played until the credit come up. I thought this was terrible on so many levels. I don't even know how an M&M fan could even like this.
