Read More based of the many dysotopian books and movies that came before it, Equillibrium does a good job of drawing from the likes of 1984 and Farenheit 451. It is in the same league as the first Matrix and far superior to either of its sequels. The movie also has the advantage of better acting, Keanu Reeves doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Bale. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Much better than The Matrix. "Scientists" already preach supression of the emotions and only one way of thiinking; conformity is the rule of our society, and drug companies sell billions of dollars of "meds" to stabilize the emotional nature. Perhaps this is a look into our actual future? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

When I first heard about Equilibrium (way back in 02) I was like "Oh a Matrix clone, how cool". But seeing the mess that franchise turned into in the interum this movie deserved a second look. And what a look it was. I was treated to a vision of a post WWIII future where emotions of any kind are supressed turning the populace into the human equivilent of Vulcans. But one man (Pre Batman Christian Bale) stops taking his supression meds and realises that emotions are a thing that should be embraced and not supressed. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More Sure there are some small flaws in the story (in particular about how people can get upset about having no emotion when they aren't suppossed to have emotion then how can you get upset...paradox) - but this movie has some of, if not THE BEST, fight/action scenes ever caught on film considering in all of the hand to hand combat there were NO COMPUTERS used - it was all practice and choreography! Only other film I've seen come even close to this now is "The Protector" - which is a HORRIBLE movie but if you just fast forward to the action scenes of that movie it is unreal also. Read More If you liked "The Matrix", "THX1138" and "Fahrenheit 451" you will enjoy this "remake". This film ripped off the plots, themes, styles and fashions of these revered works. Worse still it ripped off entire scenes from "The Matrix" including the famous columns fighting and martial arts dojo scenes. If you can get over the blatant plagiarism, then the action scenes and cinematography are entertaining. The plot requires a lack of emotion from the characters which does not enhance its viewability. Personally, I would prefer a more original storyline, everytime I saw a ripoff of the originals it detracted from the movie. I guess at least they realized the genius and success of the originals and attempted to imitate their success. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
