However, it is not even that good.
Maybe people love this movie in memory of Aaliyah, but that does not make it a movie worth watching. The storyline is laughable. The music and videos are horrible. There really isn't a whole lot for anybody to do in this movie. Two thumbs down from me. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Aaliyah's part is not worth mentioning, very few spoken words or screen time, it is very much a shame this was her final movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I can sum this up in one phrase -- style over substance. I suspect everyone involved figured that they didn't need to focus on the story, because after all it IS an Ann Rice story. Instead they went nuts on the latest, most stylish, most expensive wardrobe and hairstyles. The movie suffers unrecoverably for it. Don't bother! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I LOVE THIS MOVIE, I own the DVD and must have seen it a dozen times. I thought it was very underated. If you like romantic, gothic, dramatic, fatalistic epic tales of horror and eternal love, with an explosive sound track that will rock you to the core of your soul, watch this movie, although the book is far better... I still highly recommend it. For Aaliyah's sake, it's a must see, and Stuart Townsend is delicious, and dead sexy. He can bite me anytime. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Yes, the acting left something to be desired. And yes, it was was a poor adaption of the book. However, for a vampire movie it's not all that bad. Aaliyah as the Queen was just fabulous. I loved the way she moved. Seductive! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

What a waste of $7.50. Rather than adapting the book into a screenplay, it appears that someone took The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned, thumbed through them, read the back covers and then made something up. There are so many parts in the movie that are not even similar to events in the book, character histories are wrong (on important points, like which vampire made Lestat), characterizations are wrong and the acting is just bad. The only redeeming quality of this atrocity is the excellent soundtrack. Don't bother renting this movie.. just read the book. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It's sad that Aaliyah was even in this waste of a movie. I expected this to be an intriguing, sophisticated vampire movie similar to Interview with a Vampire, but not at all. Instead they went for shock and gore and what the heck was the storyline about?? If you don't care to follow a plot and just want some senseless, gory stuff to watch, here you go.
