I LOVE Denzel Washington and will watch him almost anything, which is why I saw this film. The premise of a frustrated father doing everything he can to get his son proper health care is great, however this film just paints as Denzel's character as naive, and quite frankly, really really stupid. I found the writing and the character's actions to be almost insulting. The acting of the wife is even more insulting. The actress who play's Denzel's wife seriously needs to go back to acting school. Don't waste your time on this Denzel film, rent Malcolm X or if you like the mindless but entertaining action film, rent Deja Vu or Man on Fire.

The story, message, pacing and acting in this movie are perfect. A truly moving picture in many ways. That said, prepare for some depression when reality hits as this movie presents just one of many insufficienies of our health care system. To get the most out of it, I also highly recommend watching the Extras somewhat hidden on this disc, especially "Fighting for care". If everyone's priority were promoting health -- from demoting unhealthy foods, overwork & stress, unhealthy work environments & practices to promoting a healthy, balanced lifestyle and excellent care for those of us that were born with health defects, incur accidents or unexpectedly fall victim to a disease, a story like this would turn into pure entertainment, as we'd all and always care.

An enjoyable movie with lots of tension and playing on the hearts feelings. Denzel was good acting. Only problem with it was at the end, it became a big political push for National Health Care.

The wife's inability to be more supportive of her husband, ruined this movie for me.

This is one of the 5 best movies I have ever seen in my life. You will love the story and the character development. The plot intensifies at the end and leaves you hanging until the end.

This is the first review that I have ever written. I'm only writing it because I was so disappointed with this movie. I was embarrassed that I made my wife sit through it. Until this movie, I had only seen Denzel in good movies or at least pretty good movies but this movie was awful. The writing was on par with an after-school special. I know these people can act; they just were not given the opportunity to do so.

This movie reinforces the egoistic idea that death to somebody close to oneself is to be avoided no matter at what cost to others and society.
