The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976)
Member Rating:
In this Canadian thriller, Jodie Foster plays the title character, a reclusive, fiercely self-reliant teenager who lives alone in her father's house. When visitors call, Foster explains that her father is away on business. He's away, all right...far, far, away. And Foster, determined not to lose her independence, will go to any lengths to protect her secret, a fact that nosy neighbor Alexis Smith learns to her regret. A new danger to Foster's well-being looms in the form of pedophile Martin Sheen, who schemes to place the girl in a compromising position. Offering a helping hand to Foster is misfit teenager Mario (Scott Jacoby). Laird Koenig adapted his own novel to the screen. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Entertaining movie and Jodie shows she will outlast the test of time. People will be watching her movies in the year 3000.

I love Jodie Foster, she absolutely MADE this movie. I will never look at Martin Sheen the same way that I used to though. His portrayl of a pedophyle (sp?) was far too disturbing (but he did a great job) If you're squeamish to teen sex and nudity (Jodie Foster is briefly yet fully nude for about 30 seconds) there's a few scenes to fast forward, you wont miss anything crucial to the story. If you like disturbing movies, go for it.

Jodie Foster really shows us what can do in this original horror thiller that has the same fomula as a stage play. The best thing is how this film constantly teases your suspicions as to where her father is, or if he's alive. If you're an animal lover, get keep your finger near the fast-foward button when Martin Sheen picks up Foster's hamster.

For being a 70's flick, which I think was the best time for creepy films, Jodie Foster only 13 here shows her talents and range to give everyone preview of what good of an actress she would become. Her friend if anyone remembers was the guy who played in "Bad Ronald" another cool 70s flick.

This movie has a real "French" feeling to it, especially at the end when the credits roll. I saw this movie a long time ago, when it first came out, and decided to rent it to see it again. I was not dissapointed after all these years. Jodie Foster is so believable, and Martin Sheen is great as the creep. And you just wanted to get up and slap Alexis Smith's character (Sheen's mother).

I thought it was boring. Nothing about it disturbed or frightened me. Don't waste your time.

Nice movie but creeped me out. In these days you don't see 13-14yr old actress smoking on the screen or any direct illusion of molestation. Not to mention a young adult with no fear or remorse of killing others that doesn't involve guns. Still a good drama.

I absolutely loved this movie ! The acting by Jodie Foster is amazing in this movie. A beautiful teen girl that knows how to survive at "all cost necessary". Mysteries, murders, sexuality are the key for this movie. Not recomended for orthopedic minded people.

From the description of this movie I was honestly expecting a little bit more. I liked it, just was expecting it to be more suspenseful, and maybe have more of an edge to it. Young Jodie Foster does an excellent job, and Martin Sheen is...amusing as the town creep/pervert. Overall it was worth the watch but I wouldn't go much farther than that.

This is a creepy movie, but its very good. Nosy neighbor kinda deserved that.
