Great movie that realisticaly depicts the events that occured and the flaws in our rules of engagment. I for one am glad that they didn't ruin the film with hotshot actors which I think would have taken away from the intensity about it being a true story.

This battle taught the U.S. Army some harsh lessons about urban combat. The producers had extensive cooperation from the Army, and I couldn't help but wonder whether that might explain why hundreds of Somali rifelmen rarely hit their targets while the handful of Americans rarely missed. I had some trouble keeping the characters straight, but the action was clear and engrossing, and so grittily realistic that I started feeling battle fatigue halfway through. Many scenes are visually arresting, and the fine score blends with an energizing mix of African and American recordings.

This is a great story with a powerful message. However it is extremely draining to watch. I have to watch it several times to get the entire story as I cannot sit down and watch it straight through. I strongly recommend this title, but make sure you're ready for the emotional impact of the drama and realistic violence.

This movie hits every emotion possible. Growing up with a Ranger father I feel a special connection to this movie. Rangers are a special breed and anyone who watches this movie will understand that.

Black Hawk Down is based on something that really did happen, a movie like this helps you understand and sympathize with the actual experiences of combat troops.

I think that it is the best war movie that was made. I would and will recommend it to anybody who likes war and is interested about it.

"The dead are the only ones who have seen the end of the war". That's about as right as it can be, considering that as soon as the forty minute mark is passed, battle descends and never lets go until five minutes before the credits. Appears realistic, very intense, very bloody. Certian scenes: the soldier missing his bottom half, the soldier impaled by the rocket, repulsed me. But the plot is good. Hartnett was the weakest major character I've ever seen in a movie, and the rest of the characters (aside from McGregor) might as well be one mass. Orlando Bloom has a short part here, too. As far as other accomplishments, Ripley had better fare with Gladiator, and as war movies go, Saving Private Ryan rules over all, but Black Hawk Down is worth the watch
