This is a powerful and heartwarming movie. I highly recommend it. Not just entertaining, but educational as well. Robin Williams and Robert DiNiro did an outstanding job and you will be rivited. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

DeNiro and Williams give great performances. This movie was recommended in my neuroanatomy class in med school and then again in one of my med school review books. So, I finally said, "what the hey," and gave in and rented the video. It was so good that I wouldn't mind adding it to my movie collection. You'll be touched as well. Read MoreI've never liked Robert De Niro, but his performance in Awakenings made me realize his acting abilities cannot be touched by anyone. To say he's awesome doesn't begin to do him justice. The movie itself is superb - both in acting and in the telling. To know that one man cared enough to fight for these affected patients, and the results of his efforts not only on the patients but everyone connected to them is beautiful. I loved the movie but found the Spanish subtitles distracting . . . isn't there a strictly English version with no subtitles? Otherwise I strongly recommend this movie. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
