After so many renditions of King Arthur and The Round Table, we really enjoyed this one. Even though it did not follow the book completely, what movie ever does? At least the ending was complete and left nothing to the viewer's imagination as to what happened to the characters. After all, is not the story actually a myth? LOL But what a myth...

This movie was so ridiculous, I couldn't even watch it to the half-way point. Bad acting, "spiritual" nonsense - don't waste your time or money.

This movie is based on a book, but I haven't read it yet so I can't comment on the differences between them, but I felt the movie was pretty good. Originally a TV mini-series on TNT when watched without commercials holds your attention fairly well. It tells the story of King Arthur from a woman's perspective. And not only that put tells it from a pagan woman's perspective. Something not often done. The acting here was pretty ok. It wasn't anything outstanding, but it wasn't horrible either. The plot of the story can kind of get you confused if you don't really know the story of Arthur that well, and there are some who don't. The costumes are a bit...out there are some points, but this movie isn't trying to be historical, but more of a fantasy with a semi-historical setting. It's a fun movie to watch though. It does have pagan themes, but don't look to it to be anything instructional. It's there to inhance the story.

I'm confused about which book this was based on. I've read the Mists of Avalon by Zimmer-Bradley, but this bore only superficial resemblance. This story was completely gutted and bereft of its mystical power. If I hadn't read the book before seeing it, I would have found it to be mildly entertaining pulp fantasy.

I went into this never having read the book, which is generally a good thing. The movie was very good. The acting was VERY well done, the characters had good depth, the plot seemed very solid, and the overall effect was very interesting. It's a completely different take on the Arthurian legends, and well worth watching.

This slow moving (as molasses in winter) and long (I'm mean you'll age watching this movie) has quite a talented cast ... what happend? It seems like they were low on funds because the mystical, supernatural aspect of the movie is severely lacking. It is so bad sometimes that you just want to give up and turn it off. I endured this painful movie to the end where it did seem to come together somewhat. However, I would not recommend anyone waste their time like I did.

This film, while being a fun sort of popcorn experience, is so far from Marion Zimmer Bradley's book that I am surprised it was legally allowed to use the book's title. Events are completely changed, events are added, removed, switched around. Characters are deleted, have their lives shortened or extended (a lot). The entire ending is a complete fabrication, and does not even resemble the book. Perhaps worst of all, the power of the women in the book has been diminished beyond recognition. Angelica Huston, Julianna Margulies, and Joan Allen had the talent, unfortunately their skills were negated by the writer's sexist adaptation and shallow, stupid direction. The best thing I can say about this film is that it motivated me to read the book - and I suggest doing the same to all of you reading this.
