A very sensitively done movie with beautiful acting, direction and breathtaking scenery. The sheer simplicity of the characters and their acceptance of their fate in the beginning and how it slowly changes really touched me. I recommend this for people who do not want typical Hollywood movies , are OK with a slower pace and subtitles. A very beautiful movie.Do watch it.

Great and realistic portrayal of the sertao and lives of desperation in the poverty inflicted region of the desolate plains of Brazil. This film transmits all of the suffering found in the wasteland and the poverty inflicted population of the land servants. Salles could not have done better. Immense film!
