Started off a little slow, but the rest made up for it. I am a huge horror movie fan, and this is a movie that you will want to watch again right after it is over. The acting is top-notch, and the location is unbelievable (but real!). It is a movie of how powerful the human mind can or cannot be--creepy, great script, excellent cast, and one that will really make you think. If you are a lover of "scary" movies, this is a must! Simply put, Session 9 is one of the greatest psychological horror movies ever made. It will get under your skin, creep into your head and twist your brain. This movie has been compared to, The Shining and rightfully so. As far as mood, atmosphere and tension, you won't find many better than, Session 9. It sets them all from beginning to end and never falters. One big reason why is because of Brad Anderson. He is one of the better directors working today. Read More I can honestly say this I've seen this movie like six times and it will send chills down your spine each and every time. This is not the type of movie that will startle you with cheesy sound cues or things that pop out on the screen. It builds up such a dark sense of despair and the recordings from the sessions are expertly written. This is truly a masterpiece and anyone with any knowledge of what makes a good horror film will have this in their top 5 all time. I highly recommend. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Judging from the vast array of responses here, all i can say is watch and judge for yourself. ... Read More This movie isn't for everyone, but i've seen it many times and have my own conclusions about the ending. Judging from the vast array of responses here, all i can say is watch and judge for yourself. It has a slow pace, and there aren't many shock scares or scenes of intense gore, but the mood and setting and acting are all great. Personally, i love the way it ends. Every single time i've seen this movie i notice a small detail that i never saw before, and i've watched it about 10 times. It did not really scare me, it had a lot of potential. I believe it could have been scarier but it was mediocre. I think if they would taken the angle of demonic possession or the supernatural further (or at all) that would have been good. A guy going wacko, just didn't scare me that much. Read More great cure for insomniacs...i rented this because of all the 4 and 5 star reviews...someone even compared it to the Changling, which is THE ultimate scary movie...well, let me tell you folks, this movie just outright sucks beyond belief...it had moments that made you think something was about to happen...but nothing ever did...complete waste of time...i can't believe they couldn't think of anything to do in this movie besides walk around in an old mental hospital...no ghosts, no blood, gore, no intense scenes, no nothing...this could be shown on nick at night between bewitched and my three sons and noone would be able to tell it was supposed to have been scary in any sense of the word...avoid! If they would of actually added a few ghosts could of been really good. Instead one of the most boreing horror flicks I have ever seen!!!
It's a stinker!!!!!!
