This is an excellent production that was made abut 21 years ago and stars Helen Bonham Carter as Lady Jane Grey. I didn't know about his little piece of English history, but after watching the film, I checked out the story through Wikipedia and sure enough, it was presented correctly. The one liberty that the filmmakers took was to pick a good looking young stud as Lady Jane's husband. Wikipedia indicated that he was more of a dumpy dullard. If you like the Masterpiece Theater kind of stuff, this is for you!

I love history and this movie was not only historical but a true love story. It also gave a lot of thought to how far we might go to be faithful to our true beliefs.

I watched this film and "The Other Boleyn Girl" on the same day and I have to say, I prefered "Lady Jane". Both films deal with similar themes: young people from noble families being used as pawns by their families in order to obtain political and financial gain; Anne Boleyn and Lady Jane Grey also became ill-fated Queens of England. I liked "Lady Jane" because it has a straightforward storyline as well as interesting characters, good perfomances and a tragic romance to keep you involved. If you like historical dramas, give this movie a try.

If you want a great love story watch this movie. If you want the facts, then this movie is not accurate. Jane and Guilford did get married, but they had no real love for each other. They did not co-habitate until she became Queen, then slept in seperate rooms most of the time. Up until the marriage, this is basically accurate. I still enjoyed it because it put a much happier ending instead of the real facts! I think I have watched it three or four times over the last 20 years since it came out.

Characters were a bit one-dimensional. Otherwise well done.
