It deals with that part of your life right after high school when you finally realize that it's unnecessary to walk around with your nose turned up at everything. Birch and Buscemi are perfect. Read MoreOne of the truly amazing things about this movie is the characters (which really begins with the comic). They're so real, and it's shame that other characters in film can't even begin to grasp that quality. Also, the way the movie deals with friendship and cynicism and what happens "after" is great.

The completely unrealistic acting and wardrobe of Scarlett Johansson, however, brought the movie way down. Johansen is far too listless, a poor attempt at the sarcasm that seems to come naturally from Birch. It's about people who don't quite fit in and are outsiders. There are some really funny parts as you see these kind of sad characters interact. Illeana Douglas is great as the new age summer school art teacher. Boring from the beginning, Scarlett Johansson must have been on Valium during the filming. My 13 year old left after 15 minutes, and I should have too. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
