I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. Great acting and interesting story line. Penelope looks fantastic and does a great job acting. Scenery was beautiful. Nicholas Cage's accent was in my opinion terrible and the movie would have been better without it , however, he does a good job in his role so its forgivable.

On the first watching, Christian Bale's character seemed like a stuck up brat...but the character changes though the movie, and that change is what made me watch the movie again and again. I was also surprized at the true story line about what happened to many Italian troops station in Greece.

This movie was a wonderful love story with comedy and romance during a hard time. Beautiful scenery. It seemed to be a long movie but I was surprised by how much I like it.

This movie was touching. It gives you some history of what was happening in Greece, although this is not told as based on true events. Nicholas Cage is very different in the movie, but enjoyable. Penelope Cruz as wonderful and believable. It is filled with tragedy and love. It shows what the French told of the people of Greece and the distrust. There was a passion in this movie that you feel. Rent it, you will enjoy it.

I was just looking for a love story. I got more than I expected. John Hurt, Christian Bale, Penelope Cruz and Nicolas Cage all turned in wonderful performances. The story was more complex and moving than I anticipated. Overall, an enjoyable romantic drama.
