Don't forget to get the BONUS DISC. Its loaded with extras on Willis O' Brien and his work on Creation, an unfinished film, the spider pit sequence that is missing from the King Kong movie, and all the history and background about the "making of" King Kong. This movie was great in the 1930s, great when I first saw it in the late 1960s, and is still great now. A classic that was ahead of its time and a movie that many tried to duplicate.

This version of King Kong was good but of course no where near as good as Peter Jackson's version. But still this movie is great. This movie is my favorite Black and White movie. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

The original and best version of this story and film. Fay Wray is terrific in the part of the woman the beast is in love with. All other versions of the movie should be discarded. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

I have to say that the genius who made this film a classic was not Merian C. Cooper, who was just average, but Willis O'Brien, the master stop motion pioneer. This film would have been better if he had been allowed more control. The spider pit sequence is truly a sad loss. And while Kong is marvelous as a stop motion creation, he's a joke when he's represented by giant puppets. And of course, the writing ain't great. The more I thought about this film, the more the flaws dragged my appraisal of it down. It's such a shame. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Probably an absolutely great movie in 1933, but it's now the 21st century and the 2005 version is far superior in terms of its intensity, suspense, character development (including the relationship between Kong and Ann), and, of course, its special effects. Worth a look at this 1933 movie because of its historical significance, but be certain to see the 2005 version which is outstanding! WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
