I loved the way this movie was made, I had no idea it was a remake of a tv series. The disjointed way in which it was filmed kept the viewer guessing.I felt Catherine Z Jones acted really well and I do not like her as an actress at all! DelToro and Doc Cheadle are par excellence. Douglas is above average but we have seen him do this fatherly character before,so he looks like he is repeating himself. The message this movie carries about what drugs can do to our children and to society is very important. It is a very dark film and leaves you shaken .I highly recommend watching this movie for the direction, the storyline and the acting.Kudos to the director for having made a wonderful movie with a strong social message in these days when some parts of the society want drugs to be legalised.

This is one of the better movies that I've seen. It's hard to imagine someone not liking this one.

It is a great depiction of the Drug world. Hated to see the girl being abused by the dealers like that. Made me sick to my stomach. Drugs into sex slave.

Great movie if only for the fact that it shows how truly ridiculous and stupid the government has made the American people look while they spend BILLIONS AND BILLIONS of dollars on this joke on us called "The War on Drugs". It makes me sad and sick. Screw flying off to the coco and poppy countries and stay here in America and spend that money in education and rehabilition and clearing out the 60 or 70% of the inmates in jails that are only there because of drugs and help US learn to help them and understand. My parents always taught me that Charity starts at home.

At times, you will wonder exactly what is going on. It all ties together nicely, but this movie is a bit hard to follow at times. Make sure you are alert when watching it.

Many layers, provocative and thought provoking. The war on drugs is a total sham and completely political and ineffective...

This 2000 movie is an attempt to hack the original 1989 mini-series (Traffik with a “k”) down to movie length. Though it succeeds in that, much crucial material is lost from the original story line. The casting in the movie is OK, but not nearly as good as the original mini-series. The original was intentionally disjointed to keep you guessing, and while the movie kept some of that, it’s even more disjointed because of what they cut out. If you want to be done with it in two-and-a-half hours, go ahead and watch the movie. If you want to experience the whole story, see the original five hour mini-series. (The 2004 mini-series is pretty good too, and is more like a sequel than a re-telling of the original story.)

I first rented and saw this DVD when it first came out a few years ago. But I just bought it (New). Only after I watched the "The Making of Traffic" on the DVD. Did I realize that I had not seen many, many scenes!!! Neither now, nor the first time!!!!! So I tried the DVD again, and sure enough, the DVD jumps the first few chapters and starts about a third into the movie!!!! I was able to start it at Chapter One by going to Scene Selection! But I wonder if others have had the same problem and not noticed?? DID YOU MISS PART OF THE MOVIE TOO?? DOES YOUR DVD START AT CHAPTER 1?? Has this happened to me on other Movies?? WOW!
