A seat-of-the-pants militia attitude gets a boost from this conventional drama about the heroics of a teen son anxious to free his father from captivity in a small Middle Eastern nation. Doug's (Jason Gedrick) father is an Air Force pilot who was shot down on a mission near the border of an Arab country and is now held hostage. Failing adequate U.S. intervention causes a desperate Doug to enlist his school chums in a wild plan to essentially sneak away with two Air Force jets and take off on a mission to rescue his father. He convinces the veteran Chappy (Louis Gossett, Jr.) into flying one plane, while Doug himself flies another (he learned how to pilot from his father). Yes. I BOUGHT THIS MOVIE THE OTHER DAY FOR $3.00. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT, I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I SAW IT WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT IN 1985 AND HAVEN'T SEEN IT AGAIN TILL I BOUGHT IT! IT'S KIND OF LIKE A "TOP GUN" TYPE MOVIE BUT NOT AS FLASHY OR WITH THE HIGH PROFILE ACTORS. LOUIS GOSSETT JR. IS OUTSTANDING AND SO IS JASON GEDRICK. THE SOUNDTRACK IS AWESOME AND TAKES YOU BACK TO THE 80'S. THE PLOT IS SOMEWHAT UNBELIEVABLE BUT WHO CARES! IT'S ENTERTAINING AND HEARTWARMING! TRY AND BUY IT SOMEWHERE FOR A GOOD PRICE. IT'S WORTH IT!

a son goes to hte extreme limit to save his son, this movie capture that element well on how strong father/son relationships can be. The movie is full of action, i'd like to see more movies fall into this league. Louis Gossett Jr. gives an outstanding peformance!

This movie was nothing like what I remembered from when it was in heavy HBO-rotation back in the 80s. It's still a good Reagan-era actioner, but I was disappointed to find the concept so thin. And the F-14's in Top Gun are so much more interesting to watch than the Air Force's goofy F-16's in this movie. Okay, I don't know crap about fighter jets, but I do know what looks cool. I liked seeing the gay black Tri-Lam from Revenge of the Nerds. Lou Gossett Jr. is the black Mr. Miyagi of 1980s kid's flicks!

Excelent movie. I enjoyed it very much and would love to show it to my 7 year old grandson but some of the language in the movie is not appropriate for a 7 year old.

I remember liking this movie but that's about it. Then I remember being totally PO'd by the start of the sequel. You know what I'm talking about. Stupid sequel.
