This is classic horror filmmaking at its best. If you weren't around when this was first released then I fear you may be conditioned to expect explosions and blood splatter. This version is more character-driven and engaging them most horror films; which is why I consider it a classic. If you're not into character development and just want to see blood splatter onto walls and floors, then you might as well move on. I just watched this again after many years had passed since the last time I saw it. Considering that it was released in 1978, I was rather surprised as to how well the dialogue held up. Well worth viewing.

At the time, this was a really scary, cutting-edge movie. So scary, my parents wouldn't allow us to watch it when it came out for fear of psychological damage. It's kinda funny now watching it now 30 years later, with all it's cheesy effects and "terror music"....but it's still a good story with plenty of good acting and drama. Jeff Goldblum looked like a teenager and Brooke Adams was a total hottie (had a crush on her when I was a kid). Sutherland and Spock were classic actors in their 70's duds.

I finally got to see this movie after all these years. I had a hard time finding it. But I would have to say....IT WAS AWESOME! Its still a great horror flick even for today. I am not a really into sci-fi but that end of the story is just minimal enough and more scary than anything else. And the combination over all is great. Definately glad I finally got to see this one.

A true homage to the seventies, this file was ahead of its time. Beats the hell out of a lot of gore films of today with pure suspense. some of the acting was pretty weak...Jeff Goldblum really improved over time. All in all I enjoyed it but didn't want to watch it again the following day.

I loved this movie in 1978 when it came out, and I think it has held up well. I enjoyed the psychological aspects - the shrink trying to make the paranoia about people's relationships! The new one (with Nicole K) picks up on this with making her a psychologist. Donald Sutherland is such a great actor. I had such a crush on him!

This movie really could have been a lot better. This isn't a bad movie, but there are much better "Pod People" movies out there to try first.

An engaging horror movie with goosebump aspects (I loved the scary dog) and cool special effects that were sparse considering the long length of the film. Though it was not a thrill ride all the way, movie jumped right into the thriller aspect of the movie, which was great. Despite thatt, plot was not believable, predictable, and slow at parts and had to be fast forwarded to get to the action scenes. The movie focuses on the disovery and escape of only a culster of indviduals and fails to make a connection to the big picture, which is at best, observed or viewed from a distance. Characters were weak in uncovering the truth, lacked realistic defense strategies, and some were gullible and predictable. Still a good movie to watch if you like cult classics. Entertaining.

Usually I enjoy re-makes of older movies but, the 50's version was far better than this film. Extremely slow pacing and not many thrills. This movie is about as exciting and suspenseful as a wake.
