Really touching. To see how Marianne "falls into" her lover and his neediness. Her husband is handsome, successful, radiant at times. Her daughter is an angel. And this man who is her friend, just pulls her into his flames and she is consumed. Wow. And the poetic way she tells it, the language she uses, the scenes unfolding one by one as she goes back into each one to try to tell that moment's story. Really something.

The movie is really long, but the way its written holds your interest as you try to figure out the interaction with an older gentleman. The characters come and go as the incidents come scene by scene. As you're trying to guess at the outcome, the story slowly comes together, sometime emotional, sometimes what seems like complexities hard to interpret. The last few scenes answer the question that continually comes up during the revelations.
