A great Coen Brother film. A brilliant idea to adapt The Odyssey to the south in the 30s. I share a very strong connection with George Clooney's character because I too am a Dapper Dan Man.

I did not see this movie when it first came out -- the reviews were not overwhelming and it kind of disappeared. I just rented it in 2006 and was completely suprised by how great it was. It's not some great, deep film. Just a well written story which will keep your attention and entertain you to the very, very end. The dialogue was first class. Sure parts were a bit farcical, but I laughed out loud several times which I rarely do watching a movie. The plot twists along and all comes together wonderfully at the end. When things happened, you had to think back to some connection earlier in the film and realize why it was there. The very end (the scene at the cabin) seemed ridiculous at first until it dawned on me what was happening. One of the best films I've seen in quite a while.

I am amazed by this film, as I usually am by the Coen brothers. So many factors contribute in making this one of my all time favorites: well composed photography, effective setting, brilliant acting (especially John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson), exagerative characterization, beatiful music, clever allusion and wit, among many more.

Well, if you haven't seen this one your less a person for such. If you are some kind of overly neat metrosexual that is turned off by the American Traditional soundtrack and the gritty hill-billy imagery, then do yourself a favor and get over it. You will enjoy this movie more than once and you will want to share it with others so do yourself a favor and go buy it don't rent. Before this movie I was very indifferent about George Clooney after, I am a huge fan. Eveyone else give a Stellar and hillarious performance. It definately ranks with movies like Forrest Gump, and more recent greats like Big Fish. Don't walk Runnnnnnn!

I didn't find it all that great. There were some funny spots. I thought to be good at times.
