Probably at the top of my list of great movies. It was amazing though how many reviewers never got what this movie was. (I thought you had to be well educated in order to qualify to be a reviewer). This movie can be watched from three different perspectives and you can get three different experiences by watching it those different ways. Great job on the writing and presentation of one of the all time great stories.

WOW. I cannot believe just how good this movie is. Like the title proclaims, it is my fourth favorite movie of all time and my absolute favorite Coen film. Everything here is good. The atmosphere (a hazy looking sepia tone), the setting (good old backwoods, full of gophers and one-eyed bible salesmen), the acting (not a bad egg to be found), the music (own the album, brings me back every time), and most importantly, the characters. Probably never have I seen more diversified and likeable characters in a movie before. The loquaciously wise Everett, the short-fused Pete, the dimwitted Delmar, little characters such as Goodman's unforgettable "Cyclops" and Washington Hogwallop, all acting beyond words. "I don't want Fop, I'm a Dapper Dan man!" Just fantastic. An A movie.

This movie had heavy pretentions, but ultimately failed to deliver. It would have been a fantastic movie if they hadn't attempted to recreate the Odyssey. The allusions were so strained and jarring. It seemed like the story, funny and quaint on its own, was jarred and sidetracked every time the writers stretched it to encompass yet another Odyssey parallel. The kooky plot and acting were really well done (a tough admission for an avowed Clooney hater), and the production quality was top-notch... but in the end it just didn't work. It's really just not as clever as it wants to be, and nowhere in the vicinity of "literary".

Apparently you have to be smart and well-educated to appreciate this movie. Then color me ignorant. For the most part, I was not entertained.

A very sad, sick, violent movie. (If it were rated R instead of PG-13, I still wouldn't have liked it, but I may not have found it as appalling.)

I rented this because people at work were saying it was one of the greatest movies of all times. My husband and I took 3 nights to watch the movie because we fell asleep the first two night. I didn't see what all the fuss was about. The movie was boring, the acting was second rate and the outcome predictable.
