This futuristic animated adventure is based on the graphic novel The Melting Pot, created by noted comic artists Kevin Eastman, Simon Brisley, and Eric Talbot and published by the creators of the well-known graphics magazine Heavy Metal. In a distant universe, the acronym F.A.K.K. (Federation Assigned Ketogenic Killzone) is used to designate places of extreme danger to all life forms. In a bid to keep out unwelcome visitors, the quiet civilization of Eden has designated itself as F.A.K.K., level two. However, a lunatic named Tyler (voice of Michael Ironside) invades Eden, and when he discovers Eden's secrets -- life-preserving if respected, deadly when abused -- he lays waste to the civilization, leaving behind only a female warrior named Julie (voice of Julie Strain). Julie sets out to find Tyler, determined to see the secrets of Eden returned to safety and eager to take her revenge for the slaughter of her people. Unlike the 1981 film Heavy Metal, Heavy Metal 2000 tells one long story rather than several shorter ones; in keeping with the first movie, it does features a soundtrack by a number of noted rock bands, including Monster Magnet, Pantera, Days of the New, Insane Clown Posse, System of a Down, Coal Chamber, and others. Heavy Metal 2000 was released in Europe as Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

the search for everlasting life with blood, sex, music, and funny moments all in one great movie.

It was all right. Nothing special. It's all right if you're not expecting much. The plot just left me cold, more like it was an excuse to get chicks naked. Mmm... animated semi-porn. The animation was nothing all that special (I agree, more of the stuff from the beginning would have been cool). All around, it was just an average movie. Worth a look if you're into the HEavy Metal comics, but not anything great. It was just... well, it was "meh".

If you are into checking out the off beat movies this is one you should put in your Q. They blend both CGI and tradition illustration footage throughout the film. For the most part this works great until the end. The end CG is cheesy and you will know what I mean if you see the movie. I loved the opening credits and wish the whole film would have been done that way. The pacing of the film keeps you interested. The voice acting is top notch. The script could have been a little more in-depth but then it is a Heavy Metal movie. The special features are worth checking out as well. Its better then what you would expect and worth your time on a boring night at home.

I'm a huge fan of Heavy Metal; the movie and the magazine. If you liked the first movie, then don't see this one. Instead of being a montage of different stories with different artists, etc. this one is just one story, no changes in art style or nothing. Whereas the first movie was meant to be like the magazine, this one is just meant to be a movie. And not a very good one at that. The storyline is weak, it's not very witty or inventive like #1, lots of meaningless cartoon nudity that don't help the story at all (but hey, that's HM!). Sex, drugs and rock-n-roll is what Heavy Metal is about so don't see it if you have moral objections to any of them.

Worthless snoozer. Only teenage stoners will find it interesting: and they'll love it!

Review 84: Continuing 1981's well drawn collection of rock heroes adventures in a dark metal universe animated by multiple famous artists gaphic novel, this 19 year updated animation fuels the furthered sexual nature of the characters stories to fulfill a more erotic theme, this time already approved by it's source material book.

with all the advances of animation in the past 25 years, the heavy metal guys went with the same animation style as the One Step Beyond, which was outstanding for its time. Could have been much, much more.

I'm a Splintercell video game fan and it was weird to hear Michael Ironside's voice in the movie calling for his friend "Lambert" in the same tone as the video game.

This movie must have been created by people that are in serious need of a mental health professional. This is a cartoon that depicts women in every degrading way possible. It also encourages violence towards women. And of course the men in this sad excuse for a film were either Mr. violent Macho or Mr. weak. This bad cartoon contains a lot of violence towards women including a woman publicaly being sexually molested. Sick.
