My daughter (3 years old), has already watched it four times in two days (she won't let me turn it off), so I would say a positive vote for the kids! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I realize it's a direct-to-video-sequel but I expected more from Disney. The animation is barely on par with saturday morning cartoons and the plot couldn't be more unorginal. All they did is re-write the first Little Mermaid, change Ursula to Ursula's sister, and change the protagonist from Ariel to her daughter Melody.
At least the other Little Mermaid movie, Ariel's Beginning, was better quality and had an original plot that furthered the understanding of the world of Atlantica.
That being said my 3 yr old and 2 yr old daughters loved it but let's face it, young kids will watch anything. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More The Littel Mermaid is one of my all time favorite disney movies...while I thought this sequel was cute the annimation was sub par. too cartoony! Ariel and Eric have not aged a minute since the 1st one and they now have a teenaged daughter!!!?!?! (wouldn't that be nnice to be able to accomplish in life!) but Ariel looks more like a slightly older sister than a Mom to Meldoy! My 6 yr old daughter notiuced that right away saying "she looks like a kid!) It had some funny moments though! and it will entertain young kids but don't count on it being a family movie that all can enjoy like the original was. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More One if the movies strong points is that the voice actors do a wonderful job of portraying their characters, Jodi Benson as Ariel especially, and I love all of the returning characters in it. However, compared to the original, this movie is just a poser. the music, characters, and even the animation simply can't compare. The characters especially--I mean, having a comic relief is one thing, but it's just not neccessary for every character to be one! My next complaint is the music; some of the songs are pretty catchy, but none of them carry the beauty or originality of the first "Little Mermaid's" spectacular music, and some of the animation is too over-the-top cartoony to be taken as seriously. I understand it's a childrens movie, but too much is too much.
One more thing that bugs me: Can you tell me why Aladdin and Jasmine don' even get married until the third movie but Ariel is now the mom of a teenager? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
