Not sure what the previous reviewer was watching. First of all the film is in color, not B/W as mentioned above. I recommend this to all fans of true crime stories.

yes this film was made for Tv in the late 1970s but does an excellent job of presenting the facts and investigational blunders and breakthroughs that finally lead to Charles Manson and his groupies being convicted of the brutal murders of Sharon Tate and her friends and the La Bianca's. The story line is excellent and factual. Great movie for those who are true crime buffs.

While it looks a bit dated, with that 1970's visual style-it still packs a punch. Some of the acting is on par with a Dragnet episode, but some of the actors are outstanding. The book is a masterpiece. I think reviewer 'Jennifer B'. is talking about the awful filck "The Helter Skelter Murders"--a different movie, and a total turd.
