Add to this effective character acting and an interesting story with the subtext of the then impending handover of Hong Kong to China in 1997, and you have one of the all-time great HK flicks. There are a few moments of implausibility (okay, quite a few), but this is more than outweighed by the sheer energy level of the flick. Late in the movie, there is an outlandish moment of physical comedy which may put off the more literally minded. My advice is this: turn off your inner critic and just go with this hallucinatory blast of heroic bloodshed. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

More bullets that all James Bonds movies ever made. I don't even think Hamburger Hill (1987) had more shots fired. Forget the actors, plot, sub-plot or even story. Just let the bullets fly. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

This movie is insane. You can't beat the action scenes. The dialogue is great. This movie really highlights the differences between foreign and American films. I highly recommend watching this movie. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreEverything you remember about 1980s Hollywood action flicks is here: nonexistent plot, unlimited amunition, overkilling, looping explosions and multiplying stuntmen. Imagine getting the cheat code for your favorite shoot 'em up and applying it to a film. Hong Kong's contribution to cinema is martial arts and cable harnesses - and nothing else. Even the slo-mo and other camera tricks are actually technical adaptations from 70s American TV. Only watch it if Quentin Tarantino invites you over to do so - and only if you're getting a part in his next flick! Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
