Pluses are delightful Frank Loesser songs and a charming, very accomplished performance by Kaye. Negatives are a very studio-bound production, boring (to me at least) ballet sequences, and Anderson's teenaged side-kick who speaks with the heaviest and most inappropriate Brooklyn accent! This new dvd release features outstanding picure and sound; they did a great restoration job. Growing up with a record of the songs, it was a very pleasant surprise to hear them in high fidelity, and if my memory hasn't failed me, (it's been a few months since I saw the dvd) in true stereo. I was surpised to read recently that the seemingly very warm and delightful Danny Kaye was difficult and demanding, quite an SOB to his co-workers on this film. Close this Review
