Starts with a track from the 13th Floor Elevators, which wins my heart. The main character takes me back to the days when I used to troll used record stores for rare recordings. The film captures the atmosphere perfectly. Grew bored with the stories of failed romances. Hated Jack Black's character.

If there ever was a "Guys" chick flick this would probably be a good candidate. For the "Chicks" there's the struggle to make a relationship work. For guys there's jack Black being himself and a rock and roll theme. For all the story is OK , good acting, plenty of laughs, doesn't drag out, and has great music. All in all an enjoyable movie.

I think this movie and the characters' experiences ring true for folks who've been out of college for a while and are dealing with the gut-wrenching fears that come with growing up...and committing. This movie is a great treatise on men and women and their relationships (and illustrates how some people are self distructing) and the way the story is weaved with music is outstanding. I really enjoyed it.

I hated this movie. I couldn't even watch all of it. I got through 1 hour & the only thing that got me that far was Jack Black. I kept getting angry at John Cusak b\c the viewer is supposed to feel sorry for him but he is the only person screwing up his life & his relationships. Why on earth would a person rack their brains over the thought of their recent ex about to sleep w\ somebody & then you go & sleep w\ a person you just met a couple of days before. How can you be angry w\ a person if they don't want to raise a child w\ you after finding out you cheated on her?! It makes no sense. If this is an exemaple of a modern relationship, it is screwed up & pointless.
