If you like him, you will be able to tolerate this movie. It can be slow at times, but it is also enjoyable. I saw this movie when it first came out and liked it about the same as I enjoyed it now. If you want to watch this movie, I say don't put it as a must see. I do say see it, just for Dreyfuss. Marsha Mason, usually plays the same type of roles. The problem is the leading lady. Either her acting sucks or her character is just plain annoying. I started rooting for her to catch some disease or something so I could watch the other characters. I don't know why I didn't turn the movie off. Wouldn't reccomend the movie unless you're being compensated for your time.

Read More This movie totally caught me by surprise. I rented it b/c it was on AFI's top 100 Romatic Films, and when it started, I was thinking it was going to be lame, but once Richard Dreyfus' character arrives, the movie is brilliant! The writing is so clever and witty and sharp, and Richard is incredible. I think he won the Oscar for best actor in this film, or atleast was nominated, and rightfully so. I think all the actors are perfect especially the little girl, who happened to be my favorite. I don't really see this as a chick flick, because my dad watched it and he adored it too. And he's one of these action-only movie people. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes comedies and to people to have found love in a unexpected place like in the movie. 5 STARS! I just happened to see it one day when I was flipping through the channels and I stopped. I fell in love with it and have seen it many times since. I definately thinik it is worth seeing! What a delightful movie this was. Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason are SO right for this flick. The little girl is SUPERB ! And what a GREAT and wonderful script and storyline this was....was SO dog-goned CUTE ! And when Dreyfuss came out and did the Humphrey Bogart routine for Marsha Mason - - that was it !!! I was pretty pleased. The theme song was good and has been one of my classic 70s tunes. There are some slow spots in the movie, but the dialogues are well written to compensate it.
