This movie was done very well, bale is super sexy. The distortion of reality and the one liners in this movie for me will stand the test of time. It's great, it really is a must see. Also, dafoes appearence as a minor character was scene stealing. A must must see.

Bale turns in a great performance that reminds all of us 80's children of someone we used to know. He goes from one world to the next seemlessly!

Great story, well directed, and strong performance by Christian Bale. The last 5 minutes were dreadful, leaving me frustrated and disappointed. Explanations of earlier scenes are forgotten, questions are left without answers, a flurry of twists at the end seem senseless and are left dangling. By all accounts the book is infinitely better and in a strange twist, the movie has inspired me to go read the book. Save yourself the trouble, go straight to th book and skip the film.

Should have to watch this movie. It captures the true essence of corporate America... rape, visceral psychosis, competition, narcissism and amorality. Other considerations about this movie are dross. Buy it. Learn what you're up against and never forget that the seemingly harmless young man in the cube next to yours would kill you in any number of ways if it meant a promotion or recognition from "the man." He may smile and compliment you, but each time he does know that, "his mask of sanity is slipping" and eventually he will get you.

chrisian bale gives an amazing, and breakthrough performance as a yuppie gone mad. he is a person who has everything, but is still looking for something. the humor is dry and the themes are intense, but not lost. this films shows parts of society that may not be explored much in today's films. A beautifully filmed movie that shows perhaps unknown actors come out and explore thier darker side.

If you like Christian Bale you must see him in the Machinist. His dedication to his craft is so evident in it!

The movie is like a G-rated version of the book and suffers from it. The violence in the movie is minimal by comparison and detracts from the commentary of 80's excess. Go read the book.
