Explanations of earlier scenes are forgotten, questions are left without answers, a flurry of twists at the end seem senseless and are left dangling. By all accounts the book is infinitely better and in a strange twist, the movie has inspired me to go read the book. Save yourself the trouble, go straight to th book and skip the film. Other considerations about this movie are dross. Buy it. Learn what you're up against and never forget that the seemingly harmless young man in the cube next to yours would kill you in any number of ways if it meant a promotion or recognition from "the man." The movie is like a G-rated version of the book and suffers from it. The violence in the movie is minimal by comparison and detracts from the commentary of 80's excess. Go read the book. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
