Read More For those of you who have not rented this film, and are wary of doing so due to a few, silly nay-sayers, follow my sound advice and rent it. Rent it and remember that what the movie depicts may not be whats actually happening. Pay close attention to the very end, and the fact that the main character is called by many different names. Notice the title on each of the business cards. Listen to the witty dialogue and uncover its many meanings. Watch it two or three times and notice how many new things you pick up, but only watch this movie if you have a dark sense of humor and the ability to come to your own conclusions without hand-holding. If you enjoy such films as True Romance, Suicide Kings, The Secretary, Chopper, 2 Days in the Valley, and other such dark dramadies, than this is the film for you. If you only enjoy movies with the words Die Hard, Speed, or Congeniality in the title, than this is not gonna be your cup of tea. Keep browsing. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? This isn't just a horror story meant to scare people. Twisted as it is, the story all revolves around a powerful message that I think is made pretty clear by the end. It's not something I would watch often, but I think it's a great movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

I read it in anticipation of the movie, and I was totally disappointed! There is no way that they could have ever done the book justice, it is more sick, twisted and mind boggling than they could ever portray on screen and actually show to people. Read More I am amazed at the positive reviews on this film. Christopher Bale, whom I consider a good actor, give an over-the-top performance that became pathetically ridiculous. Loosely based on a true character, it could have been very interesting had Bale been more believable and the story more true to mind and behavior of a psychopathic serial killer rather than simply pushing the limits of gore. Imagine no one bilinking an eye when he hauls a body in a garbage bag, dragging blood through the halls of his luxury apartment building.. Or, how about when a naked Bale drops a buzzing chain saw from roughtly the sixth floor down into a spiral staircase and manages to saw his screaming victim in half? This is after she ran through most of the apartment building yelling and pounding on doors. Come on! If you are seeing it because you don't expect more than campy gore then fine. Otherwise, skip it and see something else. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
