The movie is fantastic for ADULTS. Very cute, very funny -- most of the funniness a bit obscure for kids, adults would "get it". Thankfully I watched it with only one other person who was over 18 as well. Call me a prude but I don't think there is ANY reason to have overt OR subvert sexuality in a kid's movie! *sigh* I don't mean to be overly harsh to the movie, but there were so many moments when the lead man would "fall" on top of the leading princess.... 'nuf said. -Not- for kids, and mine (3 and 5) will never see The Road to El Dorado if I can help it.

el dorado is a movie caught in between it looks and seems like a kids movie but the funniest parts are intended for adulds. The movie is very funny and inresting but dreamworks should have went ahead and decided to make this a adult or kids movie because it trys to hard to be both. But recently in 06 with shows like family guy american dad and the simpsons this movie is worth takeing another look at because it somewhat falls into that group (althought nowere neer as vulgar).With the recent upriseing of animated adult movies id give this one another shot.

if you want your kids exposed to the gay lifestyle, rent this movie. first tip off--all the rainbows in the beginning. gay-themed music sung by Elton John, pay attention to the lyrics as the two guys (I'm not kidding) run naked (you see their asses a couple of times) and jump into a pond to skinny dip. a monkey or something steals their clothes and they are again forced to run naked together through the forest. Scantily clad over very curvy woman sex scene behind a couch was very obvious to the youngest kids. I turned it off after that, but supposedly, one of these male characters choices in the end involved either staying with the sexy woman (rosie perez voice) or leave the village with his "buddy" and he chose the gay route and left a woman for the "best friend".
