If you've already invested 6+ hours of your life to watch the first two Godfather movies, would the bad reviews on this site dissuade you from watching this finale? It is what it is; inferior to the first two for sure, but a resolution. The first two Godfather films could be ranked amongst the top films of all time. This one stands up as a fine film, but just not in that category. Al Pacino's acting has evolved, post-Scarface, into histrionic screaming, as we see in this movie, and Sofia Coppola, as cast by her father, breaks the illusion of the film with her amateurish acting. Also, the schemes and plots in this episode are not as fully developed nor as satisfying to figure out as in the first two films. Still, if you've seen the first two, you must see how it all ends.

This film doesn't even begin to resemble the first two Godfather films. If you changed the character names, you wouldn't think the movies were related. And if viewers weren't blinded by the title characters, they'd see this movie for what it is; a poorly written, poorly acted pop culture 'gangster' film that's not even good enough for late night reruns.

Unless you're a die-hard I would avoid this one. Parts I and II were much better and there's really no need to watch part III to get the whole Godfather story as it doesn't add much to the other two and is a bit dull and long. If you don't want to sully your memories of Godfather I and II, go ahead and skip this one.
