Read MoreAlthough I wouldn't call it the best movie I've ever seen, and many other people would, it is still a very, very good movie. The acting, all around, is top notch: I could sympathize with all of the characters, especially Al Pacino's Michael. For its time, it would have been hailed as a cinematic classic, or perhaps a masterpiece. Coppola directed it with finesse, and age does not show. But yet, it ages, and I would hold it in the regard of a cinematic landmark. As far as gangster movies go, it is in the top, along with Goodfellas. So, if you have three hours to spend and you are looking for a movie you haven't seen and everybody else says you should, this would be an ideal choice. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreThough since this movie originally came out, there have been a flood of gangster films some good and some not so good..in my mind, no movie on this topic has ever surpassed the very first Godfather film. I loved the contrast of " good" and "evil" the parallels between the beauty of the family and its traditions and the cruel dark "underside" of this culture. I loved the way the movie was filmed, the time period it took place in, the actors and their performances, the musical score, set design, costumes...everything. This movie is and will remain one of the greatest classics of our time. Everyone must see it at least once and please...not just for its scenes of violence. How AFI said Citizen Kane was better I havn't a clue. If you're one of the few that has never seen the Godfather, do yourself a favor, rent it and see what true filmmaking is all about.
