Read More Anyone who spent any significant formative time in the 80's can't help but be deeply touched by this series. Both laugh-out-loud funny and at the same time deeply poignant, this show is what television is supposed to be about. Characters are well developed and real (ok, with the exception of the Weir parents who are 50's era parent caricatures of reality), and you bleed a little with everything that happens to each of them. Each episode contains dozens of totally unexpected and at the same shockingly obvious moments, especially to anyone who grew up in this era. My heart is broken that it has been so long that the decision to cancel this series cannot be undone. It's a crime in the same magnitude as actually producing the Star Wars Prequels. All I can say is enjoy what was made. There's nothing on TV tonight that will even come close. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

We rented it and watched it as a family. Great springboard for discussion with teens (and some pre-teens) about issues they face today (and not so different from the ones we faced at their age). Lots of laughs but more importantly, serious issues are covered in a sensitive, thought- provoking manner. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The realism, the writing, and believable acting make this the kind of show that is penetrating. There isn't a huge theme to it like "being a teenager sucks, or don't do drugs, etc." it's just true to life. It's not about being funny, and yet it often is, quite simply hilarious. My highest recommendation. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Check out the deleted scenes and the alternate endings to the series, there was a few different ones that they were going to use, they put them all on the dvd.
