The plot was confusing, if at all existent. The acting was good, but with that much talent, it had better be. Unfortunately, the story was tangled, poorly connected, and unenjoyable. You can watch 2 decent movies in the time it takes you to suffer through this one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More when Quentin Tarantino wanted to release Kill Bill as one 4 hour epic, the studio said "no way Jose! Split into two movies!", but THIS studio gave the greenlight to P.T.A to release THIS overrated slow moving piece of trash at just over 3 hours long. Why oh why?! I gave 2 stars because the acting is superb. This movie may have a point or a purpose, but you'd need a Ph.D in Film Theory to know what it is. In short, this movie does not appeal to the average movie goer. There were scenes that were not explained and had no purpose in the movie, oddball references (like the Exodus biblical quote) that were not explained and the frog thing, well I don't know what the heck that was supposed to prove. You literally need Cliff notes to make this movie meaningful. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Magnolia is a boring movie about a bunch bad things happening to some people. The movie purports to tie the events surrounding some characters together, but does so only loosely (unlike the movies 11:14 and Memento, for example). I had seen this movie when it was first released, but I completely forgot that I had, and then I could not remember a single thing about the plot except the beginning narrative -- the only interesting part of the movie. Read More Started yawning at an hour thirty in, expecting some sort of quick resolution and then realized it was a 3 hour movie. Then Julianne Moore had her Oscar moment with the lawyer and refused to let up thereafter. Tom Cruise left the screen smoking. William Macy and John Reilly show why they always get work in Hollywood (although Reilly's performance in Criminal was a pain).
The story is 28 gramsish what with all stories tying together. It was too long in the beginning and too short at the end. Fast Forward in about 87 minutes and just watch the rest. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It had no point at all. I'm all for art, but it has to make SOME kind of sense. Raining FROGS?!? WTF? And no one even seemed to think that was very strange! Characters were mostly whiny and annoying. Save yourself 3 hours and watch a real movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
